Bellarmine Chapel is currently seeking a dedicated, dependable soprano section leader with strong musical skills, supportive leadership skills, and a positive, collaborative team spirit. Our choir has a mixture of professional and volunteer singers of various ages and backgrounds, and we seek a soprano who can easily blend with our choir.
Staff musicians serve the parish by supporting music at Masses and services throughout the liturgical year. This particular position will be expected to serve at our 9:00 am Mass every Sunday as well as high liturgical feasts, including Holy Week, Easter and Christmas. From time to time, vocalists may be asked to cantor Psalms, sing solo verses, and sing in a trio, quartet, or similar arrangement.
Schedule:
– Weekly Sunday Mass at 9 am, call time at 8 am, year-round
– Occasional Wednesday evening rehearsals, mostly leading up to the Christmas and Easter seasons
– Occasional funerals, weddings, and other services as they arise
Qualifications:
– Vocal training and the ability to blend with the surrounding members of the choir
– Sight reading skills
– Musicality and listening skills
– Dependability and consistency
– A desire to serve and contribute with a positive team spirit
Auditions:
Auditions will be held at Bellarmine Chapel, in either the sanctuary or the music office.
For your audition, please prepare the following:
– One short, solo vocal work that showcases your range and technical ability. A portion of a longer vocal work is also acceptable. We will have an accompanist available, but you may also bring your own if you prefer. Either way, please email sheet music to us in advance of your audition.
– An excerpt from our standard choral repertoire which will be emailed to you in advance of your audition. Please prepare and sing the part for which you are auditioning, demonstrating appropriate style, phrasing, expression, etc. A hard copy will be provided at the audition.
The audition will also include:
– A brief interview
– A short sight-singing excerpt

Pay: Sunday Masses are $60 per Mass, or $75 for those with either a degree in music or extensive experience. Other services vary by type, between $60 and $125
