Sachs Fund Prize

Honoring outstanding artistic achievement, the Sachs Fund Prize celebrates those whose work has enriched the cultural life of the Cincinnati region.

The Rosa F. and Samuel B. Sachs Fund Prize was first awarded in 1929. It was provided for in the will of the late Samuel B. Sachs to honor outstanding accomplishments in the arts — inclusive of visual arts, music, theatre, dance, literature, sculpture and architecture — and to honor local, regional, national and international artists who have made an outstanding contribution to the cultural life of the Greater Cincinnati region. Leadership donors receive an invitation to attend this exclusive ArtsWave Award event.

Gee Horton

Step into Gee Horton’s story of reconnection. What begins with a return to drawing becomes a professional practice shaped by family, memory and the search for connection. Horton’s path, grounded in the support of the Cincinnati region’s arts community, illustrates what the Sachs Fund Prize exists to honor: artists whose work and journeys help shape the region’s cultural future.

Kathy Wade

Kathy Wade’s home was filled with jazz, curiosity and parents who believed every child should experience the arts. That foundation led her to a career that spans the stage and the classroom, where her organization, Learning Through Art, helps students build literacy, empathy and confidence through its Books Alive for Kids program. Her journey reflects the purpose of the Sachs Fund Prize and the role artists play in shaping a more vibrant future for the Cincinnati region.
