The Be the Conductor™: Young Changemakers Leadership Lab is designed for young people, 18-25, committed to creating positive change in their schools, neighborhoods, and communities.

Through 8 weeks of workshops, mentorship, and hands-on projects, participants will strengthen their leadership skills, deepen their understanding of equity and justice, and collaborate with peers to design meaningful community impact initiatives.

 

Through this program, you will:

  • Explore core concepts of social justiceincluding identity, equity, access, and collective responsibility.
  • Develop practical leadership toolssuch as facilitation, problem-solving, public speaking, collaboration, and project design.
  • Engage with local leaders, artists, organizers, and educatorswho model what justice-driven leadership looks like in action.
  • Create and implement an Impact Project, using your skills to address a real need within your school, neighborhood, or community.

  • SERVE– Action & Impact

FAQs

Are the sessions in-person or virtual?

Sessions are virtual, however, participants are expected to attend one orientation session at the Freedom Center.

What is the cost?

The program is free of charge to participants.

I have an attendance conflict. Can I still apply?

You can apply, but applications are weighted toward those with availability to attend all sessions.

When is the program?

The program runs for 8 weeks, late February through April. Impact Project presentations will occur in late April/early May. Exact days/times will be determined.
