Contemporary Arts Center
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Compensation: $120,000-$135,000
POSITION SUMMARY
The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) seeks a strategic and analytically grounded financial leader
to serve as Chief Financial Officer. This is a senior leadership role at a pivotal moment for one of
the country’s most distinctive contemporary art institutions, housed in a landmark Zaha Hadiddesigned
building and operating in Cincinnati’s vibrant cultural ecosystem.
The Director of Finance and Accounting will serve as a key thought partner to the Interim
Executive Director and the Board, providing financial leadership, institutional decision support,
and strategic planning capacity. This role is suited to a finance professional who understands the
dynamics of nonprofit arts organizations: the relationship between contributed revenue,
endowment management, restricted funds, and operational sustainability. The CAC is in an early
period of financial stabilization, and the Director of Finance and Accounting will be a central
figure in building the financial foundation for long-term health.
CAC HISTORY
Contemporary Arts Center is one of the oldest and most respected contemporary art institutions
in the United States, founded in Cincinnati in 1939. The CAC does not maintain a permanent
collection; instead, it presents a dynamic program of exhibitions, performances, and public
engagement that responds to artists working at the leading edge of contemporary practice. The
CAC is housed in a landmark building designed by Zaha Hadid, which opened in 2003 and
remains one of her most celebrated works. The CAC is committed to access, inclusion, and the
belief that contemporary art belongs to everyone.
