Position Summary
Student Experience Representatives are frontline ambassadors for Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M. Budig Academy. They welcome students and families to the Margaret and Michael Valentine Center for Dance, support students before and after class, help maintain a safe and inclusive environment, and provide day-to-day administrative assistance to Academy + Education. The role involves frequent contact with students, families, faculty, volunteers, and staff.
Reporting relationship. This position reports to the Academy Operations Manager and works closely with Academy leadership, faculty, and other Student Experience Representatives. The Manager establishes schedules, service standards, and procedures and provides direction on issues that require escalation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student and Family Service
- Greet students, families, and visitors and answer general questions about Academy programs and the facility.
- Use clear, inclusive, age-appropriate language and model respectful behavior in all interactions.
- Help students and families before and after class, including assisting tardy students and escorting them to their studios.
- Refer questions or concerns that require instructional or policy judgment to Academy leadership.
Front Desk and Daily Program Support
- Monitor students in non-studio areas of the Center for Dance and apply Academy and facility policies.
- Address inappropriate behavior promptly and support disciplinary processes under the direction of Academy leadership.
- Support attendance tracking, absence reporting, and make-up class scheduling.
- Help keep shared areas clean and orderly and report maintenance, facility, or safety concerns.
- Assist Academy leadership and staff in responding to emergencies and follow established safety procedures.
Events and Administrative Assistance
- Attend and support assigned Academy + Education events, productions, and programs.
- Provide administrative support to the Academy + Education team as assigned.
- Attend assigned meetings, fulfill scheduled shifts reliably, and follow through on communications.
- Communicate shift updates, unresolved questions, and service or safety concerns to the Academy Operations Manager.
Required Competencies and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of customer support experience.
- Excellent customer service and clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Dependability, punctuality, sound judgment, and confidence supporting students in a busy setting.
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Strong organizational skills, self-direction, and ability to manage time during fast-paced shifts.
- Commitment to the safety and protection of minors and to the values of Cincinnati Ballet’s Academy + Education programs.
- Familiarity with dance or theater environments preferred.
Expected Work Hours and Travel
Part-time, in-person shifts fall within Monday through Friday, 3:30–8:45 p.m., and Saturday, 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Most shifts are scheduled in advance, but some flexibility is required. Hours may vary seasonally.
