Dates:

March 17th – March 25th                           Preparation & Technical Rehearsal Period

March 26th – April 18th                              Performance Period

 

March 30th- April 7th                                Holidays

March 23rd, April 14                                   Days off    


Compensation
: $1,800 stipend ($450/ week for 4 working weeks)

Assistant Stage Manager Job Description:

General Info: Know Theatre is seeking a well-rounded and dedicated Assistant Stage Manager to manage the backstage track of the world premiere of The Ravenside Occurrence by Derek Snow.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

The Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) is responsible for assisting with stage management duties backstage during the run of performances. This position also assists with wardrobe and may facilitate quick changes and show laundry during the run of shows. The ASM oversees and facilitates backstage activity during performances and prepares paperwork necessary for the run of the production.

 

The ASM may perform or oversee any or all of the following:

  • Serving as the backstage run crew for performances. Duties will include prop handling, completing pre and post-show checklists, costume tracking, executing costume changes, prop hand-offs, set transitions, and facilitating backstage action
  • Create and execute tracking paperwork for props, scene transitions, and other necessary paperwork to manage the performance backstage.
  • Assist with the daily setup and breakdown of the stage and backstage space(s), including maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of all backstage areas
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and accuracy of each production’s run sheets and production checklists for management and archive purposes
  • Assist in communicating and upholding theater policies among artists.
  • Maintaining a positive, professional environment between performers, the run crew, and patrons.
  • With the SM, assist with performing pre- and post-show duties, including setting/striking costumes and props, completing show laundry, as well as general upkeep of the dressing rooms as needed.
  • Complete minor costume or prop repairs, and track consumables as needed during performances
  • Ensure safe working conditions for the staff, creative team, and performers, including safety walkthroughs of the space daily
  • Undertake other reasonable duties and responsibilities as requested by the Stage Manager/Production Manager.

 

Skills:

  • Neccessary Skills:
    • Experience working in a theatrical, public-facing, camp/festival, or event setting.
    • Lift, carry, push, pull, and handle production equipment & scenic elements
    • Communication, collaboration, time management & organization skills.
    • Positive attitude & willingness to creatively problem solve.
  • Desired Skills include basic prop repair skills, sewing skills, previous experience on a run crew, and previous experience as a stage manager or event crew member. (Know Theatre Production Staff will assist in learning these skills, as needed.)
