Position Description
CCM Prep and Summer Programs offer intensive performing arts programs for high school students in instrumental music, dance, and musical theatre, providing an immersive “extended college visit” experience. These summer programs, which run over three sessions – June 5th-June 27th, July 5th-18th, and July 24th-August 1st, 2026. These programs will bring approximately 60 students per session to stay in the University of Cincinnati’s dormitories.
We need a team of 2 dorm chaperones and 1 supervisor to support and supervise students during their stay in the dorms. This position will involve a mix of supervision, problem-solving, and support for students as they balance their intensive program schedules with dorm life.
Education and Qualifications
- Must be a graduate student, recent graduate, or a current educator seeking a short-term, temporary summer position.
- Must be available to work for program sessions (June 5th-June 27th, July 5th-18th, and July 24th-August 1st, 2026)
- Successful candidates must complete Protecting Minors online training and undergo a background check. Training and background check with be provided at no-cost to the employee.
- Experience working with youth in a classroom, residential, or camp setting.
- A valid driver’s license is required; access to a reliable vehicle is preferred but not mandatory.
Please note: As with all job descriptions, additional tasks may evolve or some on this list may not occur. The Summer Programs Dorm Supervisor ultimately has the authority to instruct the chaperones in their daily duties and responsibilities.
Primary Role & Responsibilities
- Provide active supervision of students in dormitories to ensure student safety and well-being at all times.
- Enforce dorm rules, curfews, and behavioral expectations.
- Conduct nightly room checks and headcounts.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and follow established protocols.
- Serve as the primary adult point of contact for students in the dorm.
- Support students with homesickness, social challenges, or conflicts.
- Mediate roommate or peer disputes.
- Promote an inclusive, respectful dorm community.
- Supervise and support Dorm Chaperones.
- Maintain regular communication with Summer Programs Manager for all situations.
- Document and report incidents, concerns, and disciplinary actions.
- Communicate with parents/guardians when required.
- Oversee dorm check-in and check-out procedures.
- Be on campus and available each day in case situations may arise.
- Ensure students have checked into their respective programs each morning.
- Accompany students in the dining halls for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Attend outings and/or evening activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compensation
$1,000 per week ($6,000 for all six weeks of programming). Including room and board (three meals per day in the dining hall) for all sessions of programming. Supervisors have their own room in the dorm.
