Duration: Temporary, Project-Based (Monday 9/29 – Friday 10/24 & Early January 2026)

Compensation Range: $300- $350 per day

About the Role

We are seeking an organized and collaborative Assistant Scenic Head of Department (AHoD) to support the Scenic HoD in delivering a large-scale outdoor IP event in Cincinnati, OH. This role is central to the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of props and scenic elements. The AHoD will oversee day-to-day operations of the props team, coordinate with vendors and suppliers, and ensure all scenic work meets design, safety, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Production

  • Assist in sourcing, fabrication, and installation of props and scenic elements.
  • Lead and participate in the construction and repair of scenic elements, ensuring builds align with specifications, IP guidelines, and design intent.
  • Manage fabrication projects: allocate crew to tasks, oversee quality, and maintain production timelines.
    Collaborate with Scenic HoD, Creative Producer, and Creative Director to output design vision and production values.
  • Provide recommendations on best construction methods and materials for efficiency and durability.
    Oversee prop and scenic organization both in the shop and on site.
  • Safely operate and supervise crew on standard power tools (saws, drivers, drills, sanders, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
  • Act as the secondary point of contact for the prop team to supervisors, other departments, and suppliers.
  • Ensure installation of props and scenic elements meets the standards of Fever and the IP partner.
  • Supervise proper storage of unused props, empty crates, and scenic materials.

Load-Out

  • Lead prop assistants, vendors, and general crew through the de-rig and load-out process.
  • Assist Scenic HoD and Associate Producer in updating the scenic bible, including step-by-step installation and removal notes.
  • Develop and implement systems for inventory, packing, and transport of scenic elements.

Inventory Management

  • Track and communicate props or scenic elements that require repair, replacement, or rebuilding.
  • Ensure proper cleaning and packing of props; advise Scenic HoD and Associate Producer on methods for documentation.
  • Work with suppliers to confirm appropriate crating and storage solutions for scenic elements.Maintain accurate documentation and labeling for efficient future use.

Qualifications

  • Local to Cincinnati, OH metro area.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in small team leadership, prop and/or scenic fabrication, and on-site installation.
  • Proficiency with power tools, hand tools, and safe shop practices.Strong organizational and communication skills; able to collaborate with supervisors, crew, and vendors.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and maintain production timelines.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs, and to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working long days, early mornings, and up to 6 days per week during installation periods.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Meet).Valid driver’s license required
  • Experience working in outdoor venues and with IP’s strongly preferred.
  • First Aid certification strongly preferred.
  • Positive attitude, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to contribute in a collaborative environment.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and available in the Cincinnati, OH metro area for at least 5 consecutive weeks.
