Overview

Cincinnati Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) is seeking a proactive, independent Marketing & Development Contractor. This is an independent contractor (1099) role, ideal for a self-starting freelance professional with a passion for arts education and excels at turning audience engagement into donor support. You will manage both outward-facing communication and baseline fundraising initiatives to support CAPA’s programs.

 

Position Details

  • Status: Independent Contractor (Form 1099)
  • Hours: 10–15 hours per week (Flexible, autonomous schedule)
  • Compensation: range $20-$25 / hour
  • Location: Remote, with occasional attendance required at local evening/weekend meetings and events
  • Duration: Initial 6-month contract, with potential for renewal based on performance and budget

Scope of Work

*Research, identify, prepare and submit applications for grant funding

*Research, identify, and implement fundraising and sponsorship campaigns

*Manage CAPA’s social media accounts

*Prepare quarterly newsletter

*Prepare reports for the board of directors; attend board and committee meetings as requested

*Implement the budget. Track revenues and expenses and report deviations to the board

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years working in marketing, content creation, or fundraising (experience working directly within an arts or creative nonprofit environment preferred)
  • Written communication with an ability to clearly explain our arts mission to patrons, foundations, and corporate sponsors
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and Constant Contact, or willingness to learn
  • Able to work independently without daily supervision
