Evergreen Music School is seeking a warm, reliable piano teacher to join our growing team. This position includes a combination of private piano lessons and small-group piano classes (up to 4 students) powered by the Piano Express curriculum.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities, from young beginners ages 5+ through advanced teenagers. The ideal candidate is seeking a long-term teaching home and is excited to gradually build a schedule over time. This position begins with a small roster and offers opportunities for growth as enrollment continues increasing, making it an excellent fit for someone seeking a consistent part-time role or side gig for several years rather than a temporary position.

Responsibilities

  • Teach weekly private piano lessons and small-group piano classes
  • Adapt instruction to different ages, personalities, and learning styles & differences
  • Prepare students for performances and optional evaluations & competitions
  • Communicate student progress through lesson notes and family communication
  • Maintain a positive, professional learning environment

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience independently leading, teaching, coaching, or supervising children
  • Piano and musicianship (music theory, aural skills, etc.) proficiency equivalent to RCM Level 10 or higher
  • Comfortable teaching young beginners through advanced teenage students
  • Comfortable teaching students with a wide range of learning styles, personalities, neurodivergence, and support needs
  • Able to work independently and make thoughtful instructional decisions
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous piano teaching experience (group or private)
  • Post-secondary degree in piano, music education, or similar field

Position Details

  • W-2 employee position
  • Starting pay: $25–$30/hour, based on experience and qualifications. Opportunities for regular pay increases based on performance, student retention, professional growth, and contribution to the school.
  • Part-time, weekday afternoons and evenings.
  • Initial schedule expected to be approximately 4–6 teaching hours per week, with opportunities for growth as enrollment increases. Evergreen maintains ongoing inquiry and waitlist demand, and additional students are expected to be assigned as the teacher’s schedule expands.
  • Training and curriculum support provided
  • Preferred start date: as soon as possible, though no later than the first week of September 2026
