Contemporary Arts Center
Position Summary
CAC is seeking a part-time Social Media Manager to run its day-to-day presence across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. This is a hands-on content and community role: you will plan, shoot, write, and post — translating exhibitions, artist talks, and public programs into work that reads as sharp and current. This position reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager and collaborates with the exhibitions, curatorial, and education departments.
Schedule: ~20 hours/week, with flexibility required around opening receptions, artist talks, and select evening/weekend events. Location: Hybrid in Cincinnati, with regular in-person gallery and event attendance required. This is an independent contractor position offering a flexible work arrangement. Compensation is anticipated at $27–$30 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and the scope of services provided. As an independent contractor, this position is not eligible for CAC employee benefits, and the contractor is responsible for applicable taxes.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and execute the CAC’s social content calendar across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, aligned to the exhibition and programming schedule
- Shoot and edit original photo and video content in the galleries, at openings, and at public programs
- Write platform-appropriate copy, adapting the “voice” as needed
- Manage community engagement — replying to comments and DMs, monitoring tags, and maintaining relationships with artists, local press, and cultural accounts
- Track performance across platforms and report on what’s working, adjusting content strategy accordingly
- Coordinate with curatorial and education staff to get advance access to exhibition installs, artist visits, and program details
- Support paid social efforts as needed, including basic ad boosting for ticketed events and campaigns
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years managing social media accounts professionally
- Demonstrated ability to shoot and edit short-form video (phone-based production is fine; formal videography background is not required)
- Skilled in writing content for multi-channel campaigns
- Comfort working both independently and collaboratively; able to take direction and use good judgment
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend events tied to openings and programs
Preferred
- Experience with contemporary art, artist-driven institutions, or civic/cultural nonprofits
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, CapCut, or similar editing tools
- Familiarity with Meta Business Suite and native platform analytics; comfort with using third-party content scheduling tools
- Existing relationships within Cincinnati’s arts and culture community
