The Art Academy of Cincinnati

The Office of Engagement at the Art Academy of Cincinnati is hiring contracted instructor positions for Summer Teen Academy courses. Teen Academy is for ages 13-18 and each course has 8-12 students. Instructors can teach more than one course if applicable. AAC upperclassman with the required experience are welcome to apply.

 

Each course consists of five two-and-a-half-hour class sessions. Details about Summer 2026 courses such as the description and schedule can be found here.

 

Responsibilities

  • Communicating with the Associate Director of Engagement to coordinate instructor onboarding and orientation
  • Creating a lesson plan and syllabus for all class sessions that include active learning and making
  • Collaborating on supply list for course
  • Submitting lessons, supply lists, a syllabus, and any other required documents by the deadline
  • Instructing studio-based lessons with theobjective of teaching specific skills to students while giving them the space to create work around the subject matter they choose
  • Demonstrating beginner-to-advanced techniques applicable to the course and customizing instruction for each student’s skill level
  • Challenging a class of up to 12 students with personal review of their work andfacilitating positive and supportive peer-based review conversations or critiques
  • Fosteringan inclusive, respectful, and safe studio environment for all students
  • Completing survey and assessment requirements

 

Experience and Skills Required

  • Adegree in art, design, education, language, or a related field OR equivalent work experience
  • Teaching experience
  • Passion for working with and supporting teenagers

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Total compensationranges between $500 and $700 per course
  • Free parking pass to use during work shifts
