The Know Theatre of Cincinnati is seeking Venue Technicians for the 2026 Cincy Fringe Festival.
Job Title: Venue Technician
Reports To: Know Theatre Production Manager & Technical Director
Dates:
May 21st – May 30th Load In & Tech Rehearsals
May 30th – June 14th Festival Dates
June 14th – June 18th Load Out
Monday, May 25th Holiday
Monday, June 1st, 8th, 15th Days off
Compensation:
- Venue Technician Stipends are based on venue size & complexity. Those rates are as follows:
Large Venue: $2,500
Medium Venue: $2,000
Small Venue: $1,500
- Additional compensation available for load-in, late-night events, & strike based on availability & festival needs.
- Non- Monetary Compensation includes Cincinnati Fringe Festival Artist Pass, (2) Cincinnati Fringe Festival T-shirts, Complimentary artist hospitality, Free Parking on Jackson St, as available.
The Cincinnati Fringe Festival is a 14-day celebration of theatre, art, music, film, dance, etc. Cincy Fringe presents over 150 performances of 35+ theatre productions during the first two weeks of June. More info: https://cincyfringe.com/about/
Venue Technician Job Description:
General Info: Know Theatre is seeking energetic, enthusiastic technicians to tech & operate performances for the Cincy Fringe Festival. It’s a great opportunity for those with an all-round tech theatre skill set.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Venue & Technical Support:
- Ensuring that all equipment is working properly. Maintaining a clean & functional workspace, including the stage & house after each performance.
- Basic troubleshooting for any technical challenges. Proactively identify any safety issues affecting staff, artists, patrons, or the general public.
- Operating all technical rehearsals & performances in their assigned venue, including lighting, sound, and video as needed.
- Communication & Artist Support:
- Serves as a liaison between venue contacts, festival staff, volunteers, & artists for your specific venue, communicating with Fringe staff using Google Chat
- Keep records of all shows and venue setups, including paperwork required to enable the smooth run of each performance. Submitting daily show reports, including notating any challenges
- Other Duties:
- Maintain professionalism as a representative of the Cincy Fringe Festival at all times.
- Undertake other reasonable duties and responsibilities as requested by the Production Manager or Technical Director.
Skills:
- Neccessary Skills:
- Experience working in a theatrical, public-facing, camp/festival, or event setting.
- Be able to comfortably and safely work at height on a ladder
- Lift, carry, and handle typical production equipment up to 50lbs. (Accommodations are available.)
- Communication, collaboration, time management & organization skills.
- Positive attitude & willingness to creatively problem solve.
- Desired Skills include basic operation of lighting, sound, & projection equipment, including Qlab playback. Cincy Fringe Production Staff will assist in learning these skills, as needed.
