Website CCM Prep

CCM Prep is seeking conductors and assistant conductors for two youth string orchestras: CCM Junior Strings (grades 6–8) and a new elementary string orchestra (grades 3–5).

Responsibilities

  • Lead weekly orchestra rehearsals on Sunday afternoons.
  • Conduct ensemble performances throughout the academic year.
  • Select and program age- and level-appropriate string orchestra repertoire.
  • Plan engaging and appropriately challenging musical experiences for students in grades 3–5 and/or grades 6–8.
  • Foster a supportive, positive learning environment that promotes technical development, musical excellence, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Mentor young musicians and inspire a lifelong appreciation for music-making.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, students, and program administrators regarding rehearsals, performances, and program activities.
  • Assist in planning special events, including orchestra tours, social activities, and community-building opportunities for students and families.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of string pedagogy for violin, viola, cello, and double bass.
  • Demonstrated success conducting and leading ensembles of elementary and middle school-aged students.
  • Strong knowledge of string orchestra literature and ensemble pedagogy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate educational, performance, and social experiences that support student engagement and retention.
  • Familiarity with Suzuki pedagogy is preferred.

Salary

These positions receive a yearly stipend in the range of $4,000-6,000 depending on experience and task delineation of Conductor and Assistant Conductor roles.
