ArtsWave is pleased to announce the Young Professionals Grant Program, a new initiative that provides funding to support the development of programming – or the expansion of an existing program – that engages young professionals.

As outlined in its Blueprint for Collective Action, ArtsWave’s research on arts engagement in our community shows that arts can help businesses attract young professionals to Greater Cincinnati and keep them in the region. Cincinnati USA Chamber President Jill Meyer, who is co-chairwoman of the 2016 ArtsWave Community Campaign along with her husband, pianist Awadagin Pratt, has noted that arts are an absolute necessity in building a vibrant economy. As the leading regional arts organization, ArtsWave is being intentional about creating and funding more arts activities and programs that target and engage young professionals to achieve the Blueprint goal of leveraging the power of the arts to deepen roots in our region.

The funding to support the Young Professionals Grant Program will come from a percentage of the contributions made by young professionals to the 2016 ArtsWave Community Campaign. Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to arts organizations to support programming that:

  • Is participatory, social and recurring.
  • Encourages personal investment in the organization and/or community.
  • Targets young professionals.

A panel of ArtsWave YP Committee members will screen and evaluate applications for the Young Professionals Grant Program. The full applications are due May 2, 2016, and grants will be awarded in June.

The Young Professionals Grant Program represents an additional grant opportunity for current recipients as well as new applicants. In 2015, ArtsWave invested $10.4 million in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky metro region. Its annual community fundraising campaign supports the work of more than 100 organizations creating community through arts.
