We're just two weeks away from the grand reopening of Music Hall. This remarkable icon of Cincinnati's arts has been closed for over a year, and its return, coming as it does so close to the completion of so many other nearby arts landmarks, calls for an unprecedented celebration. That's why ArtsWave is proud to host the RE(NEW)ED Celebration for Music Hall + More on October 7, 2017.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Music Hall, Washington Park, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Memorial Hall, Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati and more will be open to the public, featuring pop-up performances, interactive hula hoop dance parties, behind-the-scenes tours, crafts and more. The Taft Museum of Art, Cincinnati Art Museum, and Contemporary Arts Center will also celebrate with free admission.
The day will begin with a trumpet fanfare and opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in front of Music Hall, then the rebuilt, renovated, renewed building will be open to the public for the first time. All five resident companies of Music Hall will participate in the performances and tours: the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Ballet and Cincinnati May Festival.
Music Hall's reopening marks a critical point in our city's long, storied history of support for the arts. ArtsWave commissioned Cincinnati Magazine to uncover the forward thinking behind these renovations in a commemorative publication titled "Behind the Buildings: Cincinnati's Arts Scene." You can register here to receive a free copy and pick it up at RE(NEW)ED.
We are only beginning to see the enormous impact of many investments in the arts sector with this fall's arts season. Don't miss your chance to celebrate at this once-in-a-lifetime event.
