Set in the French Antilles in the Caribbean, "Once on This Island" is a fantastic fable of love, death and temperamental gods. A peasant girl, Ti Moune, rescues a wealthy boy, Daniel, from the other side of the island and falls in love with him. But the pompous gods who preside over the island are taking bets on whether love is stronger than death. The stakes: Ti Moune’s life.
“Once on This Island” is a musical with book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty. This Broadway production is based on the 1985 novel “My Love, My Love” by Rosa Guy, which won the 1995 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical and 2018 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.
This is a truly a vibrant and unforgettable story of a woman who travels far and wide to reunite with the man who captured her heart.
The show will run September 7 to October 6 at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Don’t delay, as opening night is already sold out! For more information and tickets, please click here.
Advisory:"Once on This Island" is suitable for ages 10 and up. There is a sprinkle of onstage violence and some mature themes.
