Cincinnati Ballet
The Director of Marketing & Patron Experience serves as the strategic leader of all marketing, brand, audience development, patron experience, and customer engagement efforts for Cincinnati Ballet. This role is responsible for translating organizational goals and ticketing strategy into integrated marketing plans that drive revenue, audience growth, brand equity, and exceptional patron experiences across every touchpoint.
The Director oversees the execution of marketing initiatives through their team, ensures alignment across departments, and uses data-driven insights to continuously refine strategy and performance.
Essential Functions
- Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals, season programming, the Academy, Patron Experience initiatives, and overall audience engagement and revenue objectives.
- Translate the annual dynamic ticketing plan into actionable marketing campaigns and audience growth strategies
- Partner with CEO and President, the Artistic Director and senior leadership on long-term audience development and revenue planning
- Establish KPIs and success metrics across ticket sales, engagement, and brand performance
- Revenue & Ticketing Strategy Execution
- Oversee marketing execution in support of subscription, single ticket, group sales, Academy enrollment, and special campaigns.
- Collaborate closely with ticketing and patron experience initiatives to optimize pricing, promotions, and sales funnels
- Monitor campaign performance and adjust strategies in real time to meet revenue targets
- Identify new revenue opportunities through audience segmentation and targeted campaigns
- Brand Strategy & Stewardship
- Ensure consistent and compelling brand expression across all channels and touchpoints
- Oversee brand positioning, messaging, and creative direction
- Guide the Associate Director of Marketing & Brand Strategy in campaign development and content execution
- Maintain brand integrity while evolving positioning to attract new and diverse audiences
- Audience Development & Patron Experience
- Oversee the full patron experience journey across all channels and ensure excellent customer service across all touchpoints
- Ensure marketing supports a high-quality, cohesive patron experience from first touch through post-performance engagement
- Support strategies that improve acquisition, retention, and lifetime value of audiences
- Oversee audience segmentation and CRM-informed marketing approaches
- Data, Analytics & Insights
- Lead year-over-year season analysis to evaluate campaign effectiveness, audience behavior, and revenue trends
- Use data and audience insights to inform future marketing, ticketing, Academy, and patron engagement strategies
- Oversee the development of executive dashboards and reporting structures that provide leadership visibility into marketing performance, patron experience, earned revenue, audience engagement, and organizational KPIs
- Foster a culture of data-informed decision making across the organization
- Team Leadership & Management
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management for direct reports and broader marketing team
- Set clear goals, priorities, and workflows to ensure efficient execution
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Marketing Department while supporting the Patron Experience team, digital marketing initiatives, website management, and external creative, marketing, digital, and strategic consultancy partnerships.
- Build a collaborative, accountable, and innovative team culture
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Partner with Artistic, Development, Education, and Operations teams to align messaging and campaign priorities
- Ensure marketing supports fundraising initiatives, institutional partnerships, community engagement efforts, the Academy, Patron Experience initiatives, merchandise promotions, subscriber engagement events, and other cross-departmental organizational priorities.
- Act as a key liaison between executive leadership and operational teams to ensure consistent organizational messaging and execution
- Budget & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the annual Marketing, Patron Experience, Academy marketing, merchandise, subscriber engagement event, and related operating budgets, ensuring resources are strategically aligned to organizational priorities while maximizing return on investment
- Allocate resources effectively across campaigns, channels, and initiatives
- Evaluate ROI on marketing investments and optimize expenditures based on measurable performance
- Innovation & Best Practices
- Stay current on performing arts and ballet industry trends, ticket buying behaviors, audience preferences, digital marketing innovations, and programming trends to provide strategic insight that informs organizational planning and executive decision-making
- Identify, evaluate, implement, and optimize technologies and platforms that improve operational efficiency
- Champion innovation in digital marketing, content, and audience engagement strategies
