Kennedy Heights Arts Center (KHAC) is a community-based nonprofit organization that provides accessible and inclusive arts and cultural experiences that celebrate diversity, nurture creativity, and build vibrant, connected communities.
We are seeking an energetic, organized, and collaborative Teen Program Manager to lead and grow our expanding teen initiatives, including the development of a new Teen Art Center in collaboration with community partners. This position will play a key leadership role in creating welcoming spaces where teens experience belonging, build social connections, develop leadership skills, and express themselves through the arts.
Position Summary
The Teen Program Manager oversees the planning, implementation, administration, and evaluation of Kennedy Heights Arts Center’s teen arts programs. Working closely with youth, teaching artists, community partners, schools, volunteers, and staff, this position ensures high-quality, youth-centered programming that is responsive to the needs and interests of diverse young people.
The successful candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys working with young people and building relationships, and is passionate about expanding access to the arts for all.
Essential Responsibilities
Program Development and Leadership
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of teen programs at KHAC, including the Teen Art Studio.
- Create welcoming, inclusive, and youth-driven environments that foster belonging, creativity, leadership, and social connection.
- Coordinate program schedules, logistics, supplies, transportation, and facility needs.
- Collaborate with youth to shape programs, events, exhibitions, and other creative opportunities.
Partnership and Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, artists, youth-serving organizations, and community partners.
- Coordinate collaborative programming with partner organizations and contracted teaching artists.
- Recruit participants through schools, community organizations, neighborhood outreach, and public events.
- Represent KHAC at community meetings, outreach events, and partner activities.
Staff and Volunteer Management
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise part-time staff, teaching artists, interns, and volunteers.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.
- Provide ongoing coaching, training and support to ensure high-quality and mission-focused youth programming.
Administration and Evaluation
- Manage program budgets, calendars, registrations, attendance, and required documentation.
- Collect participant data and evaluate program outcomes using surveys, assessments, and other evaluation tools.
- Track performance measures and prepare reports for funders and organizational leadership.
- Assist with grant writing and grant reporting to support program sustainability.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with organizational policies and grant requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Experience working in community arts, arts education, creative youth development, or arts administration preferred.
- At least two years of experience managing youth and/or community-based programs.
- Experience working directly with adolescents from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience supervising staff, contractors, interns, or volunteers.
- Experience with data collection, program evaluation, and grants management.
- Values equity, inclusion, and community partnership.
- Enjoys mentoring young people and helping them discover their strengths.
