Call for Teaching Artists & Art Educators
2026–2027 Program Year
Kennedy Heights Arts Center (KHAC) is seeking experienced Teaching Artists and Art Instructors to lead engaging visual arts classes for youth and adults during the 2026–2027 program year.
We welcome applications from artists working across a wide range of visual art disciplines and mediums who are passionate about arts education, community engagement, and fostering creativity in learners of all ages.
About Kennedy Heights Arts Center
Founded in 2004, Kennedy Heights Arts Center is a community-based arts organization dedicated to providing accessible and inclusive arts and cultural experiences that celebrate diversity, nurture creativity, and build vibrant, connected communities. Through classes, exhibitions, performances, and community partnerships, KHAC creates opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn, create, and connect through the arts.
About the Opportunity
Teaching Artists are hired as independent contractors and are compensated at a rate of $50 per instructional hour, inclusive of planning and preparation time.
We are currently hiring instructors for our Fall, Winter, and Spring class sessions and are also interested in identifying qualified candidates for Summer Camp programming.

May 31st – Aug 6th, 2027
Applicants interested in Summer Camp opportunities are encouraged to indicate their interest as part of this application process. Qualified candidates will be invited to complete a formal Summer Camp application in November 2026. Early expressions of interest will help us identify potential instructors and begin planning for the 2027 summer season.
Class Schedule
Adult Classes are scheduled on Tuesday–Friday from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Youth Classes are held on Saturdays between 10:30 am – 2:00 PM
Youth classes serving ages 5–12 focus on building strong fine art fundamentals while encouraging creativity, experimentation, and artistic confidence.
Teen Artists for Change is on Saturdays from 2:00 – 4:00 PM
Teen programming centers creative youth development, leadership, and social change. Teaching Artists working with teens should be interested in helping young people use art as a tool for self-expression, community engagement, and creative problem-solving through collaborative projects and real-world artistic experiences.
Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate prior teaching experience. Teaching experience may include, but is not limited to:
Classroom teaching
Community arts instruction
Workshops and public programs
Artist residencies
Museum or gallery education
After-school programming
Summer camps
Arts integration programs
We encourage applicants to detail the full scope of their teaching and facilitation experience within their resume and cover letter.
We welcome artists working in all visual art disciplines, including but not limited to drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, fiber arts, mixed media, photography, digital arts, sculpture, and interdisciplinary practices. We also encourage proposals from artists working in related creative fields such as poetry, spoken word, creative writing, storytelling, and other arts-based disciplines that foster creativity, self-expression, and community engagement.

Applications will be reviewed based on program needs and instructor qualifications. While not all applicants will be selected for immediate placement, qualified candidates may be retained in our instructor database and contacted as future teaching opportunities become available throughout the year.
