About Kennedy Heights Arts Center
Kennedy Heights Arts Center (KHAC) is a community arts organization dedicated to providing accessible and inclusive arts and cultural experiences that celebrate diversity, nurture creativity, and build vibrant, connected communities. Through classes, workshops, community events, and partnerships, Kennedy Heights Arts Center serves hundreds of youth, teens, and adults each year. Our Education Department works closely with teaching artists, volunteers, and community partners to deliver high-quality arts experiences both at KHAC and throughout the community.

We are seeking a motivated and creative Community Arts & Education Intern to join our team. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in arts education, community arts, youth development, nonprofit leadership, creative placemaking, and community engagement.

Interns gain hands-on experience supporting arts programs, working alongside teaching artists and arts professionals, contributing to community initiatives, and helping shape new opportunities for youth and families. This is an excellent opportunity to build professional skills while gaining insight into the operations and impact of a nonprofit arts organization.

Responsibilities
The Community Arts & Education Intern will support a variety of programs and initiatives across the organization, including:

Assist with planning and implementation of arts education programs serving youth, teens, adults, and families.
Support the ongoing development and activation of KHAC’s Teen Art Space, including youth engagement, program planning, and creative ideation activities.
Collaborate with teaching artists and staff to create welcoming, inclusive, and engaging learning environments.
Help prepare classrooms, art materials, and supplies for programs and workshops.
Assist with outreach, communications, and program promotion as needed.
Support program registration, scheduling, data tracking, and other administrative tasks that help programs run successfully.
Assist with coordination and planning for WinterFest, including communication with instructors, program logistics, and event preparation.
Contribute ideas and solutions as part of a collaborative education team.
Provide additional organizational support as needed.
Special Project Opportunities (Optional)
In addition to day-to-day responsibilities, interns will have the opportunity to contribute to a project aligned with their interests and career goals. Examples may include:

Supporting the planning and development of KHAC’s Teen Art Space.
Facilitating youth engagement and idea-generation activities to help shape Teen Art Space programming and design.
Assisting with the implementation of a newly awarded grant initiative from its early planning stages.
Supporting curriculum development, community engagement efforts, or special events.
Proposing an independent project that supports KHAC’s mission while aligning with the intern’s academic or professional interests.
