As we head in to the final month of the 70th ArtsWave Community Campaign, we invite your help with the groundwork for a very special project. Next year, women who changed the face of democracy will be celebrated across the nation with the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage and the passage of the 19th Amendment. Here at home, ArtsWave plans to shine a spotlight on the many inspirational women who have shaped the artistic and cultural vitality of Greater Cincinnati, past and present.
One way we'll do this is through a book project, spearheaded by long-time Cincinnati leader Kathy Merchant. With estimated publication in spring 2020, the book will tell the stories of 100 women — both legacy and living — who have helped shape the arts in Greater Cincinnati. They may be artists, visionaries, philanthropists, administrators or pivotal volunteer leaders. The book will celebrate the fact that so many of our region's arts institutions were founded by, or are currently led by, women. It's something else that distinguishes our region and puts Cincinnati on the map!
To be sure that we tap into the broadest possible range of experience, perspective and knowledge of our community, ArtsWave invites you to help identify the 100 women who have most shaped, or are shaping, Greater Cincinnati arts. We are looking to celebrate the region's diversity of art forms and the diversity of women leaders for the arts in our community. We'll be accepting nominations through April 30, 2019. Click here for more information about the criteria and to access the brief nomination form.
Thanks in advance for your participation in this important and exciting project!
