ArtsWave Jobs

Marketing and Communications Intern

Do you love creating content and storytelling across a variety of platforms?

Can you put together strategies for social media?

Are you a bold and curious marketer who doesn’t want to be stuck doing the same thing everyday?

If you answered yes to these questions, check out the Marketing & Communications Paid Part-time Internship (20 hours a week) at Artswave.

We’re looking for an individual to work January through spring, 2025 (second semester) on various marketing and communications projects with an emphasis on social media content creation, campaign communications, social video editing and web content creation.

You’ll work with a small, curious team in a mission-oriented environment to help raise money and awareness regarding the need to support our region’s arts. Because of the nature of this internship and the ArtsWave team, you’ll gain experience doing a variety of marketing and communications tasks. Every day will be different… seriously!

Reports to: Senior Director, Marketing & Communications

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Content and collateral creation: Because the marketing team views our role as an “in-house agency,” we have a varied set of responsibilities, including creating press releases, social content, fully designed and produced brochures, videos, emails, event support and everything in between. You’ll be an integral part of the creative process, using the set of skills you possess, especially as they relate to engaging social content (design, writing, video, audio, etc.) If you have quick/social video editing skills, you’ll have a leg up here.

Social media and marketing strategy: You’ll work with our team to plan and create audience-specific content for all our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) that amplify ArtsWave’s mission as the engine for the arts. This includes both organic and paid social. These will serve to support our overall marketing strategy. If you are creative with bold ideas, you’ll have a leg up here.

Web building and webpage structure (don’t worry, no coding involved!):

You’ll be a key player in migrating pages from our current website over to our new unpublished site, currently being built on the WordPress platform. This will include building page structure, but also making editing decisions regarding how best to display information and tell our story on our site.  You’ll also play a role in maintaining our cincyae.com calendar using a WordPress backend environment. If you’re organized and can self-direct, you’ll have a leg up here.

Required Competencies

Ability to write and express ideas clearly, efficiently and engagingly. We want a storyteller!

Willingness to boldly try things, ask questions and regularly ideate new and better ways to accomplish tasks. We want someone who’s not afraid to suggest new ideas!

Availability to work on occasion on evenings and weekends to cover social media and/or represent ArtsWave at events

Professional presence in demeanor and dress, plus excellent communication skills and confidence when communicating with donors in person (many of whom are the ‘who’s who’ of our region), the public and staff.

Strong appreciation for the arts and their role in our region

Required Qualifications

Working toward a bachelor's or master's degree, ideally in marketing, communications, arts administration, design or something else that you think makes you an excellent fit

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

Experience handling organizational social media accounts is preferred — TikTok experience is a plus.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with design software (Adobe Creative Suite preferred, but any is great)

Video production/editing skills (this is a big plus in our current environment!)

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $16-18/hour, commensurate with experience

Hybrid work environment with good flexibility for hours, time in office and more.
